Go into Access, look at the tables... right click here and you can choose a linked table. From there you can choose a provider, namely SQL Server, (this is a file DSN) and you can then choose both the server and the database.

I would use the SNAC ODBC provider. Don′t knwo about performance issues with this one, but this one is capable of all featrues in SQL Server 2005.
